Scottrade has a reputation for excellent customer service. You can contact their friendly, knowledgeable team by email, phone or visit one of their 273 offices nationwide.

Though Scottrade doesn’t offer as many investment options as some of the other online brokers, they do have enough that you can diversify your portfolio. This online stock trading service has all of the standard investments including stocks, options, mutual funds, and exchange traded funded. Additionally, they have some fixed income investments like U.S. Treasury and Agency Issues, bonds and CDs.

This is a good service if you’re new to trading. The website and trading platform are easy to navigate and there are online tutorials to teach you about the different tools. Scottrade Elite, their high–end trading desktop, allows you to add the windows and tools that provide the information you need. When you look up a stock, all of the windows automatically update.

Their flat–rate commission scale well accommodates investors who don’t trade a lot or don’t yet have large accounts. However, this online investor may not provide adequate tools for the very active investor.
